Mesih'te Kardeşler
Kimdir?
Christadelphian adı, brothers in Christ, yani Mesih'te Kardeşler, İsa inancında kardeşlik anlamına gelen Yunanca ibareden türetilmiştir. 19uncu yüzyılın ortalarından itibaren Britanya ve Kuzey Amerikanın birçok bölgesinde pek çok isim altında ancak tek bir inançla toplanan gruplar olmuştur. Amerikan Sivil Savaşı zamanında vicdani ve dini inançlarına aykırı olduğunu ileri sürerek askerlik hizmetini ifa etmeyi reddeden kimse statüsünü alabilmek için bir gruba bağlılığın beyan edilmesi gerekmiştir. O dönem itibariyle Christadelphian kullanılmıştır.
Christadelphianların ücretli rahipleri yoktur. Yine Yunancadan gelip bir kilisenin topluluğu anlamına gelen ekklesialar, ekklesianın üyelerinden oluşmuş bir kurul tarafından yönetilir. Bu ücretli olmayan kurul, ekklesianın günlük işleyişinden mesul olup ekklesianın diğer üyelerine karşı sorumludur. Christadelphian ekklesialar, aktif olarak komşularına vaaz edip bölgesel, ulusal ve uluslararası düzeylerde işbirliği yapar. Ekklesia genelde gençler ve Pazar günü okulları, askeri hizmet konuları, yaşlılara bakmak ve diğer dini konularla ilgilenmek ve onları düzenlemekle çalışır. Öncelikli ilke, ekklesianın bir aile olarak hareket etmesi ve bir ailenin birbirine yardım ettiği gibi dayanışma içinde olmasıdır. Günümüzde aşağı yukarı 130 ülkede, çoğu kurulmuş ekklesialara üye, kendi dillerinde vaaz ve ibadet eden yaklaşık 55,000 Christadelphian vardır.
